The Institute of Software Systems Engineering (ISSE) is a leading research institute on software and systems engineering. Its mission is to teach and to conduct basic and applied research on software development with a focus on the increasingly vital role of modeling. Without doubt, software is at the center of innovation in the 21st century. Our institute thus develops and teaches about principles and methods for making software development more cost effective, transparent, and reliable. The work of the institute covers a wide area of software development, from requirements capture, architecture and design, testing, to maintenance; including software modeling (consistency, traceability, impact of change), product line engineering (and other forms of variability), requirements engineering, and software processes. Automation and tool also support play a fundamental role to provide the software engineers with the right tools. The institute is part of the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) and is situated on its main campus in Linz, Austria.
