Mechatronic objects play an increasingly important role in systems engineering. In this context a mechatronic object is the representation (digital, virtual) of a mechatronic product and describes characteristics and properties of several different discipline-specific models (like signals, mechanics, automatic control techniques, drawings, ..) and their dependencies. Furthermore systems engineering is a highly complex and needs some strategic guidance that is best formulated as a functional strategy on the level of engineering. Currently there are no established methods for the development and assessment of engineering strategies available.
Goals: A Framework for evaluating mechatronic objects that also allows to systematically plan and supervise improvements in the mechatronic design. A method for the development and assessment of engineering strategies.
Results: A framework for classifying and evaluating mechatronic objects. A systematic improvment method for mechantronic objects based on their classification and Evaluation Validation studies
