GenAI has found its way into strategic leadership and management education. It is used by students and its challenges and chances are discussed at length in the educational literature. The question is not whether to use GenAI, but how to use it to best prepare students with the necessary skills for strategic leadership. Instead of the tedious and superfluous discussion about the pros and cons of GenAI in the classroom, we condense the complexity and, on the one hand, take a closer look at the role of teachers and learners in terms of their competencies and handling of AI, but also distinguish between four central teaching formats. This is a distinction that has received too little attention in the literature, but one that is crucial to provide teachers with practical implications for the classroom.
