Original Kurzfassung:
OCT is a non-destructive, non-contact, and non-invasive assessment technique commonly used in medical fields. These include, e.g.,
ophthalmology (examination of the human eye), cardiology to detect plaque formation, or dermatology to diagnose skin cancer. It uses nearinfrared laser light to capture high-resolution, cross-sectional images of samples. These characteristics have caused an increase in popularity
and applications of OCT for industrial fields, particularly in non-destructive testing.
In the scope of this work, the advantages of OCT have been utilized to conduct comprehensive quality assessment of polymer products, enabling
defect detection as well as ensuring compliance with required dimensional standards. These capabilities have been demonstrated in several use
cases such as injection-molded lenses, unidirectional endless-fiber reinforced plastic tapes, co-extruded films and corrugated pipes. For the latter
a computer vision based software tool has been developed to analyze OCT-Scans and to obtain crest and valley wall thickness data
automatically.
