Original Kurzfassung:
Additively manufactured parts usually show anisotropic behaviour when
it comes to mechanical strength. Geometries subjected to tensile forces
that are oriented within the xy-layer show strength values similar to
injection moulded parts while the strength in the perpendicular direction
is much lower.
To overcome this effect, a multi axis additive manufacturing system
based on a industrial 6-axis robotic arm has been developed. In order to
investigate the possibilities of this system, a series of specimens has
been produced, tested and evaluated. Conclusion: ? Multi Axis Additive Manufacturing increases the strength of parts in
z-direction
? Continuous fibres can be printed using conventional 3D-printing
extruders and nozzles
? Mechanical strength and specific strength of parts, especially with
weld lines, can be significantly increased
