Responding to calls for preparing students of strategic management for coping with increasing rates of change, dealing with paradox, and facing the challenges of disruption, we introduce the Creating Competitiveness Framework (CC-Framework). It allows us to highlight the characteristics and challenges of different competitive environments and reflect on the suitability of different theories, concepts, and management tools. Especially, the CC-Framework serves as a basis to discuss strategic options and their consequences for business models, which transcend the traditional distinctions of internal and external threats and opportunities. We propose a theory-based and student-centered application of the CC-Framework in class, taking into account their learning preferences and learning requirements based on their previous knowledge and experience of the students.
