Original Kurzfassung:
There is already a wide range of different wearable tracking devices (?wearables?) on the market and it is growing rapidly. Considering current research (Swan, 2013; Marcengo, 2013 & Lee, 2014) wearables such as smartwatches or bracelets for fitness tracking are becoming even more popular and could enrich psychological research in providing less reactive data. The aim of the current field study was to employ wearables in the field in order to determine their surplus value as alternatives to self-report measures in empirical research. The field study was implemented as a project of occupational health promotion to provide a health-feedback by combining data from two different sources: 1. data from a fitness tracker bracelet and 2. data from two short online surveys. A total sample of N=101 white-collar workers of a public institution in Austria participated in the study. As the field study is currently at its final stage first results will be presented.
