Vibrations of beam-type structures with a distributed piezoelectric actuator and sensor are considered. The space wise distribution of the actuator is chosen in order to annihilate a deflection caused by a load in the steady-state case. The structural vibrations are suppressed by using feedback. The quantity needed for the control law is measured with a space wise distributed piezoelectric sensor. The controller design is based on a loop shaping method in the frequency domain. Experimental results show the satisfactory disturbance rejection in the closed loop.
