For a hydraulic press controlled by the rotational speed of the pump, a positioning controlleris developed. The controller has to meet various requirements concerning accuracy,robustness, and rise time. This results in a state controller adapting to position in a pressure-dependentway. Controller performance is investigated by simulation and experiments. Theinfluence of pump pulsations is shown to be very small, whereas the implementation of amotor speed feedback makes a big difference.
