Original Kurzfassung:
The proposed presentation focuses on recent developments in labour market and disability policies with a special focus on supported employment. Key objective of the presented study is the comparison of supported employment policies in the countries Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands and The United Kingdom in reference to Austria. Most of those counties have been reforming their policy programmes to increase mainstream labour market participation and to reduce expenditure on disability benefits. We identified strengths and weaknesses of the various employment schemes and inform about outcomes of recent reforms experienced in the given countries.
In the last years, countries went through reforms or formulated reform plans in the field of disability benefits and supported employment. We were interested in what shaped the legal framework, current policies for reforms or reform plans and the application of supported employment programmes for persons with disabilities which are far from the labour market.
