The fast development of new CFD models for multiphase flows inherently drives the need for validation experiments on a lab scale or on real plants. While this usually leads to rather complex experiments and the usage of expensive equipment, the possibilities for measurements in high temperature metallurgy are still very limited. However, alternative approaches for data processing of multiphase flows can lead to a better understanding of lab scale experiments and also generate new ideas for plant optimization.
