The Digital Library of Mathematical Functions (DLMF) Project was initiated to perform a complete revision of the Handbook of Mathematical Functions (Abramowitz and Stegun, 1964), one of the most-cited reference works for physical scientists and engineers. The DLMF has considerably extended the scope of the original handbook as well as improving accessibility to the worldwide community of scientists and mathematicians. The DLMF Project updates and periodically expands the coverage to 1) correct the mathematical content where errors are discovered, 2) to add new features to the website and 3) to provide new mathematical material as the community and the editors feel is appropriate. I will discuss the history, current state and the possible future of the DLMF.
