Original Kurzfassung:
This course introduces participants to the foundational principles and diverse applications of OpenFOAM®, which is a versatile open-source computational library. The aim is to provide a comprehensive entry point for individuals who want to learn how to use OpenFOAM for simulating various engineering phenomena.
The course curriculum includes hands-on experience with OpenFOAM®?s functionalities. Participants will learn essential concepts such as geometry and mesh generation, numerical discretization, case study setup, post-processing, and simulating within the OpenFOAM environment.
Through interactive sessions, attendees will construct computational models and follow step-by-step tutorials to master the library?s tools. Practical exercises will focus on manipulating geometries, generating meshes, defining simulation parameters, and interpreting results. This will ensure proficiency in utilizing OpenFOAM®?s capabilities.
In addition, the course includes an introduction to specialized tools for modeling the flow of viscoelastic fluids within the OpenFOAM framework. This will be particularly relevant to the audience of the Polymer Processing Society Conferences.
Targeting industrialists, researchers, and students with varying levels of proficiency in computational modeling, this course aims to empower participants to harness OpenFOAM® as a powerful simulation tool. By the end of the course, attendees will possess a foundational understanding of OpenFOAM®?s scope and the practical skills necessary to independently initiate and conduct simulations.
