Original Kurzfassung:
FCEI International?s 2022 Congress is pleased to include this online symposium, hosted for us by Natus NCA and HBA. It focuses on the essential elements of developing strong and sustainable EHDI systems, with special emphasis on low and middle resourced countries.
There is arguably little benefit in establishing newborn hearing screening and early identification alone without appropriate family-centred interventions to support the development of the child?s language and communication and social and emotional well-being. Such interventions go beyond the provision of amplification. This international symposium will draw on examples of different types of innovative leadership and approaches to development in different parts of the world and discuss some strategies for developing and implementing integrated EHDI components in contexts where resources, both human and financial, may be constrained. It will conclude with a LIVE Q&A session
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to
Describe some of the essential components of an integrated EHDI system
Discuss the value and impact of Deaf and Parent leadership and partnerships with professionals in the development of EHDI
List some practical strategies and approaches to support the development of EHDI, and in particular Early Intervention to improve outcomes for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
