Original Kurzfassung:
This paper deals with modal analysis of the human arterial system, which can be interpreted as a branched network of pipelines. The acoustic response in these pipelines is stimulated by the heart in a pulse-like manner. Natural frequencies and mode shapes are calculated for flow rate state variables. Distributed measurements of blood velocity are carried out by an ultrasonic device and operational flow rate shapes are extracted. Widening or narrowing of individual pipelines will have a direct effect on the modal parameters, which suggests a new way of diagnosing the respective disease.
