Original Kurzfassung:
This work presents an approach for the optimization of window coefficients for 5G user-equipment side sensing. The approach is based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing radar-based range and velocity estimation, which is realized in this work by using the sounding reference signal from the 5G New Radio standard. The signal configuration and thus the corresponding waveform is generated in compliance with the existing 3rd Generation Partnership Project standard for 5G. The issues of conventional signal processing for the specific resources available for sensing within a communication framework are highlighted. The proposed method optimizes the window coefficients to improve the sensing capabilities. The results of the optimization are presented, where we show that our approach can improve the peak sidelobe level of the velocity profile by more than 10 dB.
