The aim of this monograph is, on the one hand, to point out how vague concepts of ordering can be integrated fruitfully in applies areas and, on the other hand, why existing concepts are not sufficient for that task. Consequently, a generalized approach, which also takes the strong connection between similarity and ordering into account, is presented and studied, followed by several applications.
