Original Kurzfassung:
In the presence of gyroscopic effects, the classical modal assurance criterion can exhibit unwanted off-diagonal values. Therefore, a new rotor modal assurance criterion is defined; it uses a combination of mass and stiffness matrix weighting and is interpreted in the context of vibration energy. Classical and rotor modal assurance criteria are compared for two-degrees-of-freedom and four-degrees-of freedom examples which demonstrate that the classical modal assurance criterion can be misleading. The rotor modal assurance criterion is intended as a contribution to
modal testing and model updating of rotors in rolling element or tilting pad bearings.
