Gaining better understanding of complex-adaptive systems is one of the great challenges of today?s ICT. This paper investigates the human-centered aspects of city-scale sports events by applying the concepts of complex-adaptive systems and discusses the placement of this work in the research domain. To support future work, we present and describe a comprehensive data set of movement traces and behaviors of various actor groups collected during a real-world mass sports event.
