Simulations play a growingly important role in the development of new vehicles. Using realistic simulation environments, new features of driving safety and driver assistance systems can be tested and thereby improved during the early stages of the development process. The aim of this work is the development of an autonomous virtual driver that adapts to the respective vehicle models and can follow a predetermined trajectory in the virtual street in compliance with speed limits. A theoretical basis for the advance planning of the velocity pro le of a vehicle on the road, algorithms for automated analysis of vehicle performance as well as a map-based sequence controller with an adaptive PI component are developed and implemented.
