We generalize the copy number variation (CNV) detection method cn.FARMS for Affymetrix genotyping arrays to Laplacian distribution of CNVs. The Laplacian distribution captures also cases where only few variants are present in a cohort. On the HapMap datasets we confirm most known CNVs, found new ones, but also identified many false positives.
