Parameter Estimation for Hydraulic Drives in Steel Rolling Mills

This contribution is about the parameter estimation for a hydraulically operated wrapper system, which is part of the coiler used in steel rolling mills. In detail we consider a double acting hydraulic actuator, which interacts with the 1-dof mechanical system of the wrapper. Based on an algebraic approach we show an online identification algorithm for the estimation of the uncertain plant parameter like center of gravity, the inertia and the valve coefficients. The identified coefficients are also used as parameter for the nonlinear control scheme.
