A Novel Piloted Fast Switching Multi Poppet Valve

In this paper a new piloted seat type valve which employs a multi poppet concept is presented. Its nominal flow rate is about 100 l/min and its switching time is 1 ms for a
pressure drop of 5 bar. This valve is conceived for applications in digital fluid power and hydraulic switching technology which ask for fast switching valves. With this valve energy efficient switching drives in the 10 to 20 kW power range can be realized. Its seat type design makes it a non leaking valve. A further important aspect is low cost
manufacturing which is enabled by using roller bearing components as poppet elements.
Both properties are important for many applications.
