Original Kurzfassung:
Traditional e-learning systems use identical content for every user. They are not capable of adjusting the lessons to the special needs of a certain user. This fact is one of the reasons for the high drop-out rate and low acceptance in traditional e-learning settings.
Through the use of personalization in e-learning, the content can be adjusted to every individual. This thesis is about adaptive hypermedia and its use in e-learning. From the foundations of web technologies and learning, the thesis covers topics through to state of the art, personalized e-learning systems. In the last section AHA! and NetCoach, two adaptive hypermedia e-learning systems, are compared.
