In this contribution a concept and a prototype for a tourism information system based on the meta-data will be introduced. With this approach it is possible to handle new kind of information, new data structures or new layoutsbetter than in other information systems in which such changes have an impact on the software. With our system the adaption can be done by the tourism organisation itself. Besides, the suitability of Microsoft Access for such meta-data based information systems was evaluated.
