Original Kurzfassung:
The second part of the presentation covers implementation aspects for the realization of quadrature modulators for multi-band/multi-standard basestations. The quadrature modulator is one of the key components, which has significant effects on the quality of modulated signals. During the frequency conversion process, the generation of unwanted emissions must be minimized. Major contributors of the spurious signals are carrier feedthrough, insufficient suppression of the unwanted sideband signal, and intermodulation products generated due to nonlinearities. At the circuit level, this leads to demanding requirements on the performance in terms of single sideband suppression, carrier suppression and adjacent channel leakage ratio. This talk describes the design of a quadrature modulator consisting of two double-balanced mixers and a fully integrated reconfigurable prescaler with quadrature signal generation developed in a 0,35µm 75GHz fT SiGe BiCMOS process.
