Original Kurzfassung:
Computer supported performance analysis aims at musicians and musicologists investigating
performance-related aspects of music. Since a key component of every
supportive computer environment is the user interface, presentational and interactive
aspects are of fundamental concern for the design and the implementation
of a computer supported performance analysis system.
In this thesis, an overview of music performance analysis, and of existing visual
representations of musical performance is given. Moreover, well-known methods
from Information Visualization (InfoVis) and User Interface Design (UID) are
reviewed and its applications to the present problem space are discussed.
Finally, a prototypical implementation of an extensible framework for visualization
of expressive piano performance is reviewed, and a typical application
scenario is described in a step-by-step fashion.
