South Africa - From the Country of Apartheid to the "Rainbow Nation"
Englische Kurzfassung:
The historical review traces South Africa's painful road from the inhuman politics of apartheid to the "rainbow nation" of today whre the population redagrds the dviersity of cultures in its country no longer as a reason for desegregation, but instaed as an enrichment: The policy of apartheid was based on the legal philosophical premiss that justice could not be achieved by extending the same rights to everyone, but that different laws would be needed for different groups of society to take account of their dissimilarities. Well into the late 1980's, this policy was pursued with mounting feocity. The ccoperation bewteen President Frederik de Klerk and the chairman of the African National Congress (ANC), Neslon Mandela, once he had been released from prison, brought about a momentous redirection that culminates in Mandelas election for President in 1994.
