Original Kurzfassung:
New challenges in energy and resource efficiency requires new concepts in electric drive and propulsion systems. Some of the promising new solutions are in the field of hybrid electric propulsion systems, combining electric motor with newly developed magnetic gears and effective control unit for the whole system. Close integration of the electric motor with the magnetic gear could provide more compact in size and effective power drives, with new enhanced control capabilities, without typical limitations of mechanical gearboxes. Common design elements permanent magnet electrical motors and magnetic gears is a promising opportunity for optimized drive systems for electrical vehicles and renewable sources kinetic power conversion such as wind and water. These new design concepts will require adequate control methods and strategies to provide the best operational performance. At present the research and development activities for with magnetic gears are actively emerging and hybridization with recent development in electric motors drives will provide new state of the
art propulsion systems with new operational regimes. New manufacturing techniques for magnetically geared electric motors are also of interest.
The aim of the project is to explore the new perspectives and capabilities of hybrid propulsion systems with magnetically geared electric motors.
