The project aims at the design, synthesis and investigation of a new class of polymeric and molecular photoconductors with high quantum yield of primary photoinduced charge separation. The photoconductors will be prepared on the basis of donor-acceptor polymers such as polyimides as well as conjugated polymers and oligomers. The proposed systems based on
donor-acceptor polymers showing inter-molecular photoinduced electron transfer will work for the effective transformation of the light energy
absorbed into charge separation, while the conjugated polymers/oligomers will ensure further separation and stabilization of the photoinduced charges and their transport. The project aims also at investigation and modelling of mechanisms of energy transformation of electronically excited states, generation and transport of photoinduced charge carriers in organic polymers and composites thereof.
