The three most important measures for mobile communication equipment are power consumption, production or assembly costs and size. In this work a transmitter architecture es investigated, which is called the fractional-n modulation loop. This architecture is very promissing to have an excellent performance on the three parameters mentioned above. In addition to that, this architecture could be a first step to what is called the software radio because it is very easy to make this transmitter multi-standard capable.
