Ziel der Studie ist die Analyse der Promotionsphase in den USA im Kontext der US-spezifischen Ausprägung des tertiären Bildungssektors. Zusätzlich wird ein einmaliges Programm der DoktorandInnenförderung an der University of Washington vorgestellt. Diese Studie läuft vor dem Hintergrund der Veränderungen der Promotionsphase in Europa.

Aim of this study ist the analysis of doctoral education in the US in the context of the US-specific higher education system. Furthermore an unique doctoral programme of the University of Washington is being examed. This analysis is contextualized in the ongoing debate of doctoral education reforms in Europe.
