Title:Burden surface scanning via massive MIMO imaging radar in an ironmaking blast furnaceAuthor(s):Christoph  Feilmayr,  Stefan Schuster,  Leopold Stegfellner,  Gerhard Lengauer,  Bernd Lackner,  Bernhard Lackner,  Elmar Schuster,  Dominik Zankl,  Reinhard Feger,  Andreas Stelzer,  R. WinkelAbstract:In this work, a MIMO imaging radar operating in the frequency band around 77 GHz capable of gauging the full 3 dimensional burden surface in a blast furnace in real time with an update period less than one second is presented. After introducing the basic imaging principle, measurement results obtained at a pilot installation, during blast furnace relining, and during standard operation of an active blast furnace over a long period of roughly 3 years are shown and validate the excellent performance of the developed sensor. Finally, the possibility of improving the charging process both, offline and even in real time, by means of the radar data is discussed.Booktitle:Proc. 2nd METEC ESTAD Conference, 2015Page Reference:4 page(s)Publishing:2015
