Title:A viscosity measurement unit utilizing an electrodynamic-acoustic resonatorAuthor(s):Ali Abdallah,  Martin Heinisch,  Frieder Lucklum,  Alexander Niedermayer,  Bernhard JakobyAbstract:Miniaturized viscosity sensors operating at frequencies in the low KHz-range offer portability and results comparable to existing lab viscometers. In this paper we describe a viscosity measurement cell utilizing electrodynamic-acoustic resonator sensors and provide a modified design with an interchangeable resonator card, which allows for ease of maintenance of the device and provides higher measurement repeatability. Some results obtained with the new resonator cards are presented, which show the clear dependence of the resonance frequency and Q factor on viscosity and on variations in the magnetic circuit. A temperature dependence comparison is made between resonators with straight beam and S shaped (meander) beam suspensions the result of which is the adoption of the S shaped beam design for further investigation. Finally the data processing approach using a curve fitting function designed for low quality factors is briefly described.Booktitle:The 13th Mechatronics Forum International Conference Proceedings vol. 2/3Publisher:Trauner Druck GmbH & Co KGISBN:978-3-99033-045-6Page Reference:page 621, 5 page(s)Publishing:9/2012Volume:2
