Title:Refined Dynamic Measurements of a Piloted Fast Switching Multi Poppet ValveAuthor(s):Bernd Winkler,  Andreas Plöckinger,  Rudolf ScheidlAbstract:This paper studies the dynamical response behaviour of a piloted, multi-poppet type hydraulic switching valve. The valve has a rated flow of 100 l/min at 5 bar pressure loss and can switch within one millisecond or even faster, depending on the actual pressure situation. Possible application areas of this valve are primarily digital and witching hydraulics. The valve which has been developed by the authors enables also low cost manufacturing and an easy up- and downgrading of its two main performance characteristics, the nominal flow rate and the switching time. First measurements of the dynamic response presented in previous publications suffered from some specific problem of the measurement setup. These problems are overcome by a new measurement principle and setup. Both are presented in the paper as well as several measurement results of the valve. These results show the fast response of the valve. They also demonstrate the expressed dynamics of the hydraulic processes which go on in such fast switching systems. The measurement results are interpreted with respect to further improvements of the valve performance. Different options of improvement are presented and discussed.Booktitle:Proceedings of the Third Workshop on Digital Fluid Power, DFP'10, October 13-14, 2010, Tampere, FinnlandISBN:978-952-15-2434-9Page Reference:page 23-37, 15 page(s)Publishing:10/2010
