The presented paper focuses on the analytical description of the interactions between the steel strip and the mill stand and on the controller design. Therefore, the derived models are intended to be manageable for the control design task, as well as to be exact enough to describe the essential physical effects. The models for the behavior of the strip inside the roll gap and between two mill stands are discussed. A control law is derived and it's behavior with inaccurate parameters is investigated. The validity of the proposed approach is demonstrated by some simulation results.
