Obwohl die Materialflusskostenrechnung als ein geeignetes Instrument angesehen wird, in Betrieben Ökoeffizienz zu erreichen und bereits viele Erfolgsbeispiele aus Japan und Deutschland bekannt sind, erfolgt die Umsetzung in der betrieblichen Praxis noch zögerlich. Der Beitrag setzt sich mit möglichen Gründen für die geringe Aufmerksamkeit sowie mit kostenrechnungsbezogenen Kritikpunkten auseinander. Die Materialflusskostenrechnung wird vor dem Hintergrund der Ziele, Zwecke und Prinzipien von etablierten Kostenrechnungssysteme untersucht und entsprechend eingeordnet. Abschließend wird der weitere Handlungsbedarf für eine bessere Etablierung der MFKR in der Praxis aufgezeigt.

Although the material flow cost accounting is considered to be a suitable instrument to achieve eco-efficiency in companies and already many successful examples of application exist in Japan and Germany, the application is still hesitant in practice. The article deals with possible reasons for the low level of attention, as well as with cost accounting related criticisms. The material flow cost accounting is examined in the light of the objectives, purposes and principles of established cost accounting systems and is classified accordingly. Finally, the need for further action for a better establishment of MFKR is demonstrated in practice.
