Original Kurzfassung:
Using dynamic moduli and transmission electron microscopy images the phase structure of polypropylenepolyethylene
melts was studied. Blends consisting of 80 % base material (polypropylene-homopolymer or ethylenepropylene
copolymer) and of 20 % modifier polymer (a C2/C8-elastomer, a linear low density polyethylene or a high
density polyethylene) forming a two-phase structure in the melt were investigated. The influence of the viscosity ratio
and the interfacial tension on the particle size of the inclusions was investigated. Both factors can be determined from
dynamic moduli by using the emulsion model of Palieme [1] to calculate the interfacial tension.
